The following federal programs, established by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965 and reauthorized by the Every Student Succeeds Act (2015), are administered by Colcord Public Schools:
Title I, Part A-
Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged: This program ensures that all children have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.
Title II, Part A-
Improving Teacher and Principal Quality: This program's purpose is to increase the academic achievement of all students by helping schools and districts improve teacher and principal quality and ensure that all teachers are highly qualified. This program focuses on using practices grounded in scientifically-based research to prepare, train, and recruit high-quality teachers.
Title III, Part A- (Consortium W/ Jay & Kansas)
Limited English Proficient and Immigrant: The purpose of this program is to ensure that limited English proficient (LEP) students and immigrant students and youth meet the same challenging state academic content and student academic achievement standards as all other children.
Title IV, Part A-
Student Support & Academic Enrichment: The purpose of this program is to provide districts with an opportunity to advance their efforts to improve access to well-rounded educational opportunities in a safe and healthy learning environment.
Title V, Part B-
Rural Education Achievement Program (REAP): The Rural Education Achievement Program (REAP) is designed to assist rural districts in using federal resources more effectively to improve the quality of instruction and student academic achievement. It consists of two separate programs-The Small, Rural School Achievement program (SRSA) and Rural, Low-Income Schools program (RLIS). Colcord Public School participates in the SRSA program. Eligibility for the SRSA program is determined by the United States Department of Education and funds are allocated directly to eligible LEAs. At the state level, the alternative uses of funds authority (REAP-Flex) provides eligible LEAs with greater flexibility in using the formula grant funds they receive under certain state-administered federal programs.
Title VI, Part A-
Indian Education-Indian, Native Hawaiian, and Alaska Native Education: The purpose of this program is to support the efforts of local educational agencies, Indian tribes and organizations, postsecondary institutions, and other entities to meet the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of American Indian and Alaska Native students, so that such students can meet the same challenging State student academic achievement standards as all other students are expected to meet.
Impact Aid: The mission of the Impact Aid Program is to disburse Impact Aid payments to local educational agencies that are financially burdened by federal activities and to provide technical assistance and support services to staff and other interested parties.
J.O.M.: This local program is operated under an educational plan, approved by the BIE, which contains educational objectives to address the needs of the eligible American Indian and Alaska Native students. Johnson O’Malley programs offered to American Indian and Alaska Native students vary and may include such programs as culture, language, academics, and dropout prevention.
