Great games and worksheets to increase sight word recognition.

Just Google the words Smarter Every Day, and you will see several episodes of mini science lessons.  Be sure and check through them as some are too old for first graders. Most of the lessons are really cool.

This is a great website. Your kids can listen to a lesson one day and then the next do an experiment or hands on activity.

Week One: Why are polar bears white? This is a 46 minute lesson.

Week Two: Could a statue’s shadow move? This is a 40 minute lesson.

Week Three: How can the sun help you if you are lost? This lesson is 32 minutes.

Week Four: How do they make silly sounds in cartoon? This lesson is 30 minutes.

Week Five: Your choice.  Find something that interests your child.

I love this website. It is a great way to practice reading and phonics. There are many levels to practice from beginner to already reading. Please take the time to study the readers and do the games.

Begin working  on reviewing row 11, complete one row a week. Complete the games one day. review the story on day two and three. Have your child read it to you on day four and on day five, students can pick any skill to review.
